Simon & Tammy London – Feb 2022 tour with the Nomadics
Simon & Tammy London are excited to be returning for a small run of shows through the south west in February, teaming up with another talented husband/wife duo The Nomadics.
Having been kept a little busy with other projects – the Red Tails, Simon London + the Spirits and solo work – the duo have not played as Simon and Tammy since late in 2020. This time the husband and wife outfit now return with their duo show of songs and stories that have been the backbone of their live shows for a decade.
When they sing together, they bring a room to a standstill. Simon & Tammy London resonate; the chemistry of their voices, the harmonies that lay together, can deliver you to a special place, a rarity. Songs of yearning and restlessness, through sun-drenched paddocks, highway miles and southern isolation. In full flight, Tammy’s voice harks all the way back to gospel holler, but in gentler moments there’s also a disarming clarion presence – as much Aretha as latter-day Emmylou. Thrown in with bites of gritty telecaster, Simon’s road-hardened voice – from blues-gravel lows to a soaring upper register – swagger and snarl intertwine with Tammy’s sharp, independent spirit in ways that evoke something of a modern Cash & Carter-esque duo.
Simon & Tammy London released their debut album in 2014 through MGM. Since then they’ve gone on to play a range of festivals here and further afield (Bendigo, Fairbridge, Nannup et al) and supported artists such as Kasey Chambers, Liz Stringer, Mia Dyson, Jen Cloher, Thornbird and the Stray Sisters.
The combined shows with the Nomadics will be something to witness – both duos presenting honest, heartfelt songwriting with powerful voices uniquely combining to create something bigger than the sum of its parts. Shows will offer an intimate opportunity to enjoy some remarkable music.
