Making music in Pot Plant House Party is always a shared effort. Main songwriters Seb, Daniel and Charlie provide simple ideas that are built into full songs by all four members. They recorded ‘Hollow at Hopping Mouse Studios with producer Matt Templeman (Birds of Tokyo, Sly Withers, Voyager), and with mastering by Simon Struthers (Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Karnivool, Meg Mac).
Following on from a solid run of sold out shows in 2020 and 2021 with the likes of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Sly Withers, Gyroscope, Delta Riggs, and releasing their EP ‘Sorry I Didn’t Call You Back’, the band gained a coveted WAM nomination for Most Popular New Act in 2021.
Pot Plant House Party formed when vocalist Seb Davies and drummer/manager Charlie Smith were still in high school. Since formation, the band has presented a constant sense of catharsis and growth for each member. Over the past five years, Pot Plant House Party has showcased consistent music, live shows and a strong sense of community. They’ve previously scored playlist support on Apple Music (The New Rock), triple j airplay for their single ‘Fuel Light’ and enjoyed 10k monthly listeners after initial release of single ‘Orbit’. Their charm is served up front and centre, proving a knack for writing personal and strong bursts of alt, grunge-rock.
Pot Plant House Party will celebrate the release of their new single with a string of dates in their home state. This tour was meant to stretch all across Australia, but the initial WA border hesitation proved otherwise.
“We’re really happy to play live for the first time this year across WA. The shows are set for June, which will (hopefully) be after this crazy Omicron outbreak WA is experiencing for the first time. These shows will mark an exciting time for us and the music industry. Embarking on this cycle of shows through the back half of the year will represent a time that won’t see the full effect of the pandemic for the first time in 2.5 years.” Pot Plant House Party.
